What do your walls and ceilings say about you? Are you always selecting “safe” off-whites, neutrals and beiges? Are your walls frozen in time with colors from last decade? Now is the time to take the plunge and update your home with a fresh coat of paint in a color that shows your personality and maximizes your home’s potential.
If you are ready to take the color plunge, there is no need to start with all new furnishings to accomplish your color reset. Most color trends today have a history with past trends, making it easy to find a color or color scheme that is flexible enough to complement your existing furniture, flooring and accessories. Diamond Vogel’s Fall color palette offers these flexible colors arranged in groups to help take the guess work out of selecting the right color.
Color Watch
Trends towards flexible colors that do double-duty have been increasing in popularity. These colors can be either warm or cool depending on how they are paired, or have been muted and toned down to become almost neutral. The beauty of these colors is that they change personality depending on the accessories or furniture you use in the space.
Two of these flexible colors are blue and purple. Blue continues to influence interiors with colors from deep inky blues to soft “barely there” sky tones. Traditional combos like Navy blue and white have been gaining favor. Purple, especially smoky lavenders and deep-toned aubergine are gaining influence and pair well with gold, sage green and yellow to add a mysterious, playful touch. Aqua, which has been popular because of its easy-going feel, continues a strong presence and works with colors like brick-reds, oranges and greys. Earthy greens in moss and sage are replacing the yellow-based greens that have been so popular. Grey dominates the neutral palette from deep charcoal to almost white and greys with a touch of purple or green undertone are increasing. Color influences on other interior elements include dark-toned wood cabinets, warm metallic accents on hardware and light fixtures and jewel-tone finishes that give us the deep, multi-dimensional blues, reds and purples that are popular now. Think, muted, soft and simple elegance. |
